When we Slovenians hear the word sea First of all, let's think of Croatia. We did too when we were looking for a place to go to the seaside this year. We wanted to mobile home . But in Croatia they were either too expensive, too busy or in a strange location (far from the sea or with an ugly beach or too far in Dalmatia). Then one day my husband came up with the idea of going to Italy .
We all know Lignano Sabbiadoro anyway, but it's really close to us- let's go somewhere a little further away . Then we found Jesolo and then Cavallino Treporti . The last one was really our vacation location. My condition for going to the sea at all was that the location was such that we could go at least for an afternoon to some trip .
Choosing Italy for a classic seaside holiday was top-notch and we don't regret making that decision one bit. Why?
- The Italian coast from Lignano to Cavallino is Sandy . Shells and shells everywhere. A paradise for children . Our two enjoyed it. a hundred per hour . They basically acted like they had never seen sand before in their lives. They ran in it, threw it at each other, buried themselves in it, made castles, dug holes, rolled around. They sat on a towel for 5 minutes in seven days. The seas weren't too bad either. They were too busy with the sand.
- The water is shallow, calm and warm . No grass, no urchins. The water is really shallow for a long time, so much so that we only got to the deep one one day. I'm afraid of the deep and this was really the best thing for me.
- No crowds at the border. Nothing. Niente. Hope.
- Our location: Cavallino Treporti was 5min away from the ferries for exploring the Venetian Lagoon .
- We didn't meet a single Slovenian the whole vacation. Not a single one! It's just nice to be able to talk on vacation and not have anyone understand me. This is the one, really. scumbag Relaxed, isn't it?! The camp was mostly Italians, Germans, Austrians and Swiss.
- Affordable price for the house . Otherwise we chose a better one. budget variant ( link to houses ). I always find it a bit silly to spend money on accommodation if you're just going to sleep there. Our house had two rooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and a separate toilet. In Croatia they have slightly larger houses (at least where we've been so far, all of them had two bathrooms). In front we had a large covered terrace with sun loungers, a dryer and a table. Just enough for us. Lots of shade and peace in the camp. The camp had a huge shop and a really good gelato . Two restaurants and takeaway pizza. Two swimming pools, huge children's playground + one smaller one, various activities for children, mini golf, ping pong tables, mini disco, bike rental- no, it's not .
- We went on holiday in early July so it wasn't too crowded, neither on the beach nor in the town. It would probably be much different in August.
I will mention two more. disadvantages :
- On the beach no shade . Which didn't really bother us because we avoid the strong sun anyway. We ate lunch and napped between 11am and 4pm. But one part of the beach had sunbeds and apricots.
- The camp was so very big, too big. So big that we couldn't go to the mini disco, we couldn't go to the store to buy bread, we couldn't go to the pool. It would have been nice if we had bikes with us.
Where did we go on the trip?
To Lignano Zoo (first day), Venice , Burano and to see the restored bunker Batteria Vettor Pisani.
