Tenerife: Anaga Mountains, Part 2 and Malpais de Guimar

Another winding ride through the Anaga Mountains awaited us. This time we went in the other direction to the town of Chamorga . From there we walked towards the lighthouse to Casas de Tafado , a little further to Montana Tafado (603m), where we saw the lighthouse and the cliffs. Approx. 4 km there and back. In between we also stopped at cacti and their flowers, picked them and ate them. Have you tried cactus flowers? They taste like kiwi to me, only sweeter. We parked in the aforementioned village and walked along the nicely arranged and marked path. Later we walked along the ridge. If we didn't have such weights to carry, we would probably go to the lighthouse, but next time...

In the afternoon we went to the beach, Urban enjoyed the sand and the water. What luck . He ran into the sea and then ran away from the waves. He rolled in the sand, dug it, wet it, scooped it up with a shovel, kicked his feet with it, threw it in the air,... In short, he had sand everywhere, everywhere ! Then we made a castle together which he then moved into pooped, thank god he was wearing a swimsuit. You can imagine that, Neither grandma nor mom got any rest. But Nonot only managed to drink a beer in peace.

On the last day before going home we visited Guimar, not the pyramids but the Malpais de Guimar. It is a circular walking trail through a volcanic area that is 10,000 years old. In some places nothing still grows, absolutely nothing , especially in the area right by the sea. Inland, or the closer you get to Montana Grande, you can find all kinds of cacti. We first walked along the path by the sea, the whole time we were accompanied by the contrast of black lava and blue sea. Then the path became more sandy. The children were already sleepy and irritable. Mom and I stayed at the foot of Montana Grande, while Dad quickly went to the top (276m), which is basically a crater. In the meantime, Urban rested in the shade, and we marendale . We walked a good 6km.

The trip home and the flight were easier, the children were much more diligent .
