St. Vid, 349 m (highest peak on the island of Pag)

After walking the Life on Mars trail, we wanted to conquer the highest point on the island of Pag. So for our last day on the island of Pag, we decided to hike to the highest peak on the island, Sv. Vid.

The starting point of our adventure was a spacious macadam parking lot a little further from the village of Kolan (on the road towards Novalja, before a sharp bend). At the information board about St. Vid, we crossed the main road and started the hike along a wide macadam path. The path to the top is suitable for children over four years old and for those carrying children in a children's backpack. It first led us past pens and pastures, then it began to narrow, and then we found ourselves on rocky terrain. The path is very well marked and you can't get lost. After crossing the rocky terrain, we soon come to a crossroads where the paths from Kolan and the Šimuni campsite merge. From there, two more climbs follow. First, a gentle climb and soon we see the peak. Later, we also go past a kal (pond), where sheep find some liquid for themselves. Then, in a zigzag to the top.

The trail is very sunny, so we made sure we had enough fluids with us, especially for our little hikers. Be careful when walking with children, because this is also a nasty rocky terrain. However, this rocky terrain adds that something .

During the hike, we picked asparagus, mint , and sage along the way. During the walk, we also had an interesting encounter with one of the locals - a snake.

We were almost blown away at the top and quickly looked for shelter. We found it in the half-collapsed small church of St. Vitus. There we had a snack and enjoyed the view and peace offered by this high point on the island of Pag. We caught an extremely windy day and unfortunately also a foggy view.

Otherwise, access to the peak is also possible from the Šimuni and Bošana campsites (more difficult access - rough terrain). Let this post serve as an invitation for you to discover the peak of Sv. Vid as well.
