Vremščica, 1027 m

Walking time: about an hour and a half ascent

Suitable for children: from three/four years old. Suitable for children in a baby carrier or backpack. Not suitable for strollers.

Starting point: From the direction of Divača-Senožeče, drive along the main road and on the right you will see the sign Vremščica. Turn onto the gravel road, which will take you to a crossroads. Those with older children or those who are used to longer hikes, park here and walk up the wide gravel road. For other families, I recommend that you turn left at the crossroads and drive a little higher on the gravel road, when the view of Gabrk Airport opens up, park in a suitable place under the pine tree (there is room for a few cars). Exact coordinates here .

View from Vremščica, there is a pine tree along the edge and a windmill in the middle of the photo.Hiking trail along Vremščica, a girl is walking along a bare grassy ridge.

Description of the route: From there, continue to the right. The route is wide and well-trodden the whole time. It climbs slowly, then descends, and in some places is straight. It takes you through a small forest and then back to a bare slope. Once you reach the bare slope, it climbs again, descends, and then follows the last slope up. The last part of the route is quite steep, so kindly encourage children. At the top there is a stamp and a registration book, as well as a beautiful view. On the right is the church of St. Urban.

Mandatory equipment: windbreaker! Because Vremščica is so bare, it is usually windy, so be dressed appropriately.

Additional information: To go down, you can choose the path that takes you past the stables and the hut. At the top, go in the direction of the antenna and then go down through the forest on a narrow path (in spring, autumn and winter there is a lot of mud) all the way to a clearing where you see buildings. Then turn left on a wide gravel road all the way to the car. Walk past grassy pastures. At the next crossroads, keep left and you will soon be at the parking lot by the pine trees.

A mother and daughter are on the top of Vremščica, the peak is bare and has a stamp and a registration book on it. It is one of the points of the Slovenian Alpine Transfer Zone.A mother and a little girl are walking along the bare slope of Vremščica.
