Walking time: 1 hour ascent.
Suitable for children: from three/four years old. Suitable for children in a baby carrier or backpack. Not suitable for strollers.
Starting point: the village of Povir (between Sežana and Divača).
Description of the route: We park in Povir, in the middle of the village, by the village well ( štjrni ). From there we go up through the village and over the bridge (over the railway), immediately after the bridge turn left. Then straight ahead and at the next crossroads we see a red arrow, here we keep right. We pass the last houses of the village of Povir and then we continue along the macadam path. You can find the exact coordinates of where the macadam path begins here . Along the wide macadam road we soon reach the brook . In spring we can observe frogs, otherwise fish. The path soon branches off into " easy " or " difficult ". Both paths are well marked. We decided to take a circular route. Up the easy one, down the difficult one. The easy path takes us past Hudičkov spodmol . Then it climbs steeper, descends a little and then follows the last climb. After the last climb the road branches off to the left onto a narrower path. From there we have another 5 minutes to the top. We pass the "little house" where they set up a nativity scene during the holiday season and we are at the top. At the top there is a beautiful view of the surrounding hills: Vremščica, Nanos, and the surrounding villages of Povir, Žirje, Divača,... In good weather, the sea can also be seen. At the top there is a stamp and a registration book.
The more difficult route leads us down from the top (to the right) first along a short via ferrata . A few meters of steel cable has been installed. Just enough to get children excited about climbing. After the steel cable, we descend down a narrow path that is clearly visible. We follow the markings and arrows. The path soon turns into a wide gravel road. Along the way, don't miss Spodmol in Osojnica and Škavna , and I recommend that you check out both. Soon we arrive at the crossroads of "easy" and "difficult".
Required equipment: Snack and drink. There are benches and a table at the top.
Additional information: Those who are afraid of heights should take the easy route. The route is completely safe and easy. In the village of Povir you can also see the beautiful lavender fields of Renčelj . If you are hungry, I recommend visiting the Pri Hribu inn.
