Aurina Valley

Sleeping in Kronplatz

Our exploration of the Aurina Valley began with an overnight stay at Kronplatz, where we parked at the paid parking lot at the ski slope .

Visit the Cascate di Riva waterfalls

In the morning we went for a walk to the Cascate di Riva waterfalls, which completely enchanted us.

  • Riva Waterfalls: There are three waterfalls that are particularly impressive during high water. Their power and roar create a beautiful natural spectacle (heavy spray and rainbows).
  • Access: A beautifully maintained forest path leads to the waterfalls, which is also suitable for children.
  • Fly line: Above the third waterfall there is a small house and the start of the trail. fly-line . It is an adrenaline-pumping descent between trees, over a gorge and water, which costs €10. The limit for participation is to be under 15 or over 120 kilograms.

Already on the way up, we watched some people going down and noticed the signs for fly-line . Just a few meters above the third waterfall is a house and the start of the track. fly-line . It involves special bags and belts and an iron frame along which you descend between the trees, over the gorge and the water to the starting point. The limit is 15 and 120 kilograms. We are all within these limits and we indulged in the adrenaline descent. We were all excited – the youngest especially.

Hike to the Kehrer mountain

After seeing the waterfalls, we drove even higher up the valley, all the way to the village of Casere. At the end of the village, The world ends. We parked. at the paid parking lot next to the information center and continued on foot. The Aurina Valley is known for its unspoilt nature and numerous opportunities for hiking and other outdoor activities.

Route description:

  • Path: First a few meters on asphalt and then a gravel path. The path is initially gentle, leading past a fairy-tale landscape. You can adjust the length of the path according to your abilities. The path is also suitable for bicycles.
  • Length of the path to the Kehrer Alm (1850 m): 10 kilometers (5 km one way)
  • heights: 260 meters of ascent
  • River: During our visit there was some rain and the snow was melting, so the river was extremely noisy, so much so that we could hardly hear each other.

After we walked the asphalt part of the path, we found ourselves in a fairyland. I had the feeling that we were in a living nativity scene: green grass, a river winding between the hills, cows and a gravel road in the middle. The path takes you past various mountains that offer local delicacies. We decided to take the 10-kilometer long path all the way to the Kehrer mountain. The path later climbs quite a bit, but it is a wide gravel road along the river the whole time, suitable for families.

Lunch on Kehrer Mountain

We had a hearty lunch at the Kehrer mountain: goulash with bread gnocchi, barley and desserts. The food was really tasty, and the price was Dolomite. – €95 for four main courses, two desserts and three drinks. But it was all really good!
